A Study on the Hair Salon Selection Factor Depending on the Hair Involvement of Female University Students Majoring in Cosmetology

Abstract
This study, 400 female students majoring in cosmetology in Seoul, Chungcheongnam-do, and Jeollabuk-do were surveyed from September 11 to 23, 2014. Among the questionnaires that were collected, 337 sets of questionnaires were used for analysis. The collected data were processed by using the SPSS 18.0 statistical program for analysis such as frequency analysis, factor analysis of major components, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, and ANOVA. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: This study examined the conceptual dimension of hair involvement, hair salon selection factors. The results showed that the hair involvement dimension were classified into 4 factors such as ``pursuit of fashion``, ``interest in hair``, ``style change``, and ``symbolicity``. The hair salon selection dimension were subdivided into 4 factors such as ``technical service``, ``employee service``, ``hair salon facility``, and ``hair salon image``. The hair involvement of female university students majoring in cosmetology was found to lead to a statistically significant difference in demographic characteristics such as the selection of major, reason for the use of hair salons, hair salons used frequently, and allowance money. In relation to the effect of demographic variables on the hair salon selection among female university students majoring in cosmetology, a statistically significant difference was observed in the selection of major and characteristics of the services used frequently among the concerned characteristics.
